For the next season, Nike has collaborated with Japanese fashion house Sacai and both unveil a futuristic yet feminine capsule collection.
The sportswear trend has been relevant for some time now, and designers seem to enjoy it. The Nike Lab x Sacai capsule collection is the third big collab for the sportswear's giant after working with Brazilian designer Pedro Lourenço and Johanna Schneider.
NikeLab, founded in Summer 2014, is a sort of "creative laboratory" which presents rare pieces, exculsive collaborations and the latest Nike innovations. The label now unveils a collection with Sacai. Who's Sacai? It is a Japanese house founded by creative director Chitose Abe in 1999. Passionate about juxtapositions and contrasts, the designer likes combining fabrics as well as new print technics.
For this capsule collection made of 24 pieces, NikeLab and Sacai have revisited the classics of Nike such as the windproof jackets, shorts, leggings, etc. Chitose Abe explained to BoF (businessoffashion.com) that she has "always been inspired by original silhouettes and ideas that often come from utility, performance and sportswear”. So why would Chitose Abe work with the sportswear giant? “Nike is a classic and an original that has a purity about it and a familiarity to the silhouettes that they’ve created over the years, so it’s a perfect fit with my aesthetic and inspiration”, she told BoF. We can already confirm that the collection will be bright, feminine and futuristic, knowing Abe's inspirations.

The collection will be released on March 19th and available online, in stores as well as on Dover Street in London and at Colette in Paris.
